Where did Summer go? It is back-to-school time and getting into the swing of things is exciting for kids and parents too! If you have had braces or got them over the summer, brushing at home is simple. But with a new routine, caring for your braces during the school day can be a little daunting. Here at Lawless Orthodontics, we want you to achieve the smile you’ve always dreamed of with ease and comfort, so here are a few tips to help with the transition back to school.
Bringing a bottle of water helps with more than staying hydrated:
With limited bathroom access during the school day, carrying a bottle of water with you can help wash away food and bacteria. If your student eats breakfast at school, there may not be enough time to brush before class begins and swishing with water can rinse away food and bacteria leftover from breakfast.
Carry a braces care kit in your backpack:
Lawless Orthodontics patients receive a small zipper pouch with braces care essentials for on-the-go. This bag is given to every patient once they start treatment and could be used at school. If you have misplaced your or need one for your backpack, stop by the office and request one.
Keep breakfast, lunch, and snacks braces-friendly!
Make sure to memorize the dos and don’ts of your braces diet. Remember-anything hard, crunchy, chewy, or sticky can bend wires, break brackets, and crack cement. Be very careful with your diet and always think before you eat!
It is very normal to feel a little nervous about going back to school with braces. Lawless Orthodontics aims to make your journey to a straighter and healthier smile as effortless as possible. We want to help make this school year a great one! If you have any questions or concerns call our office at (270) 781-1025 or visit https://www.lawlessorthodontics.com/
